Spatial DSS using GIS and weighted sum: application to the marine sediment re-use in the ports of North Western Europe

This research paper aims at presenting a spatial/GIS decision support system, applied to the assessment and the feasibility of a potential reuse path for marine sediments. The tool developed considers the location of dredging, the treatment site and adding-value and the reuse site. This system relies on GIS allowing a spatial analysis of the solution.

This methodology is based on spatial constraints modeling in a raster mode, using a spatial analysis tool to approximate  NIMBY (i.e. Not In My Back-Yard) and BAU (i.e. Business As Usual) effect in spatial decision making at NUTS2 regional scale.
